INOV-8 RUNNING VESTS AND HYDRATION PACKS

Inov-8 RACEPAC running vests range from compact hydration and kit carrying through to a 20 litre pack for substantially larger loads. The RACEPAC 4 uses a one-size, side-adjustable fit; the RACEPAC 8 adds a sized wrap-around construction and more storage; while the RACEPAC 20 combines a similar accessible front with waterproof rear storage, compression and additional pockets for carrying more kit.

All three provide front soft-flask storage and compatibility with a rear hydration reservoir, so capacity can be chosen around mandatory kit, weather, aid spacing and the amount of food, clothing and equipment you need to carry rather than race distance alone.

Choosing an Inov-8 running vest

The RACEPAC 4, 8 and 20 differ in more than capacity. Consider how much you need to carry, how you want the pack to fit and how much organisation and protection you need for the load.

What is the difference between the Inov-8 RACEPAC 4, 8 and 20?

The RACEPAC 4 has 4 litres of capacity and a one-size construction with side adjustment. It is the simplest option when mandatory kit, food and hydration can be kept small.

The RACEPAC 8 increases capacity to 8 litres and uses a sized wrap-around construction. Its expandable rear compartment provides more room for clothing, food and mandatory kit while retaining accessible front storage.

The RACEPAC 20 is substantially different at the rear. Its 20 litre capacity is combined with waterproof main storage, a waterproof top pocket, external mesh and rear/side pockets, and bungee compression to help control a larger or changing load. It is the option to consider when considerably more kit or greater self-sufficiency is required.

Can Inov-8 RACEPAC vests carry soft flasks and a reservoir?

Yes. All three RACEPAC models have front storage for two 500ml soft flasks and can accommodate a hydration reservoir up to 2 litres. Soft flasks and the reservoir are not included, allowing you to choose the hydration arrangement that suits the event and conditions.

Which RACEPAC capacity should I choose for an ultra?

Choose according to what you actually need to carry rather than race distance alone. Mandatory kit, weather, terrain, aid station spacing, access to support and your hydration and food requirements can all change the amount of storage needed for the same race distance.

The RACEPAC 4 works where the load can remain compact. The RACEPAC 8 gives considerably more room without moving into a large-capacity pack. The RACEPAC 20 provides another step when the kit requirement becomes substantially greater and its more structured rear storage and compression become useful.
