About KeithKeith has been running ultramarathons for 8 years, the first being the 2008 Thames Meander. Soon after Keith began building ULTRAmarathonRunning.com an ultra running resource and global calendar of ultra marathon races. The site now has over 800 listed ultra races. He has an obsession for all things ultra and now finds himself an experienced, yet average, ultra runner. Keith is very proud to be the organiser of the Grand Union Canal Race.
His proudest achievement is finishing the UK's Grand Union Canal Race or 'GUCR', a continuous 145 mile foot race from Birmingham to London, finishing in a time of 41 hours 13 minutes and placing 34th out of 97 starters. Other ultra running events that Keith has competed in are the Hull 24 Hour, London to Brighton, Caesars Camp 100, South Downs Way 100, Thames Path 100, Thames Ring 250, Thames Trot, Stort 30, the ONER, Viking Way Ultra and others. Living close to the Grand Union Canal, he spends many hours training on the canal towpaths.
Keith's hometown is Bristol, he has a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Coventry University), is a qualified skydiver (trained in Florida) and lived in Japan (Osaka/Kyoto) for two years. After a career in engineering and sales & marketing fields he wanted to follow his passion for ultra running and so decided to open a dedicated store for ultra runners.
ULTRAmarathonRunningStore.com opened in spring 2012 initially operating from the spare bedroom and garage.
His daughter is a proficient runner and swimmer and his wife is a Primary School Headteacher in Oxford with "no time to run", apparently. His favourite runs are with his dog, a Hungarian Viszla.
