Ultramarathon Running Store was built around a simple idea: endure, adapt, continue.

Holiday Shipping Update: Orders placed after 12:00pm Wednesday 29th July will be shipped on Monday 3rd August while our team is away for a short company holiday.

ULTRAMARATHONRUNNING Ltd was founded by Keith Godden in 2012, starting in a spare bedroom in Buckingham. It grew steadily, moving to a warehouse in Towcester in 2019, before returning to Bristol in 2023 — where it continues today as an independent UK ultra running store built on experience, not hype.

I’ve been running ultras since 2008 — usually somewhere in the middle or further back, where the real work happens. Over time, it becomes less about racing and more about managing discomfort, staying steady, and continuing when it would be easier to stop.

That perspective has been shaped across very different terrain — from the exposed, hilly trails of the South West Coast Path, particularly along the Jurassic Coast, to the long, flat canal towpaths of Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and Oxfordshire.

For ten years, I organised the 145-mile Grand Union Canal Race as a not-for-profit effort. That experience shaped how I think about responsibility, preparation, and respect for the distance. More recently, responsibility for the Canalslam 100+ mile races passed to a new team, while I continue to support their future and the wider canal running community.

My background in mechanical engineering influences how I approach both running and the store itself — understanding stress, solving problems, and focusing on what works over time.

Time spent living and working in Japan, together with years of disciplined strength training, reinforced a preference for simplicity, precision, and continuous improvement. More recently, that same mindset has shaped rehabilitation after full hip replacement surgery.

That’s what this store is built on.

We keep things deliberately simple. Every product is chosen for reliability over distance — no excess, no noise, only what earns its place through real use.

All items are held in stock and shipped from within the UK. No drop shipping, no marketplace fulfilment. If it’s listed, it’s ready to dispatch.

This is a store for ultra runners — and those becoming one. Practical equipment, straightforward service, and advice shaped by real experience over distance.

Ultramarathon Running Store remains a small, independent, online-only business based in Bristol, focused on doing the job properly.

Day-to-day operations remain founder-led, from product selection and customer support to dispatch and returns.

Do the work. Stay prepared. Keep it simple. Continue.
