UltrAspire Altruist Hydration Pack
28 litres · 935g · Load-supporting waist belt
The UltrAspire Altruist is UltrAspire's largest running hydration pack, designed specifically for running while carrying substantial equipment loads. Part of the Pure Mountain Running range, it combines a close-fitting running-vest harness with a supportive waist belt and removable, cushioned semi-rigid frame to help distribute weight and maintain stability. It uses abrasion-resistant Challenge Cloth and reinforced EnduraMesh XT stretch fabric for durability without unnecessary weight.
At the rear, the large roll-top main compartment provides approximately 23 litres of storage within the pack's 28-litre total capacity. Its waterproof fabric helps protect clothing and equipment from wet conditions, while the roll-top allows the compartment to be overfilled when necessary, then rolled down and compressed as the load reduces. A large four-way stretch quick-stash pocket with external compression straps provides accessible storage for clothing and additional options for securing equipment to the outside. A central buckle strap allows bulkier items, such as snowshoes, rope or a sleeping mat, to be secured across the top. Removable lower straps with aluminium buckles offer another carrying position for equipment such as a foam sleeping pad. Two repositionable aluminium toggles at the top can be used for trekking poles, an ice axe or other equipment. An externally accessible, insulated reservoir compartment accommodates a compatible
2 litre hydration reservoir
(not included), with a port for routing the drinking tube.
On either side, exceptionally large four-way stretch pockets accommodate an
800ml soft flask
or larger bottles up to approximately 1.5 litres. Compatible soft flasks can be fitted with the
Bloddle Straw Attachment
for drinking without removing the flask from its pocket. Bidirectional side compression straps help stabilise the main load and retain items carried in the side pockets.
The front running-vest harness wraps around the body for comfort and stability, with a symmetrical arrangement of pockets that keeps hydration, food and essential equipment within reach while running. Two upper zipped pockets with sweat-resistant lining accommodate a GPS tracker, SPOT device or smaller valuables. Below these, two further zipped, lined pockets securely hold compatible
800ml soft flasks,
with openings for bite valves or
drinking straws.
Adjacent bungee attachments can retain hydration tubes or carry folded Z-poles across the chest. Two large outer pockets with bungee retention and two smaller side zipped pockets provide further accessible storage for food and essentials. Two vertically adjustable sternum straps allow the harness fit to be adapted to the runner and carried load.
The supportive waist belt has a tapered shape that allows the back of the pack to rise with the body's movement while the belt remains positioned lower around the hips. Tightening the belt helps transfer some of the carried weight towards the hips, reducing the load supported by the shoulders and upper body. Large zipped hip-belt pockets keep food, a phone, wrappers and other essentials immediately accessible. Together with the front harness storage, this allows the runner to reach much of what they need without repeatedly stopping to remove the pack.
