Have run over 100km on trail in them now and really like them. Good grip, sturdy and light. No initial pains.

Have been supporting ultramarathonrunningstore for many years. My newest pair of shoes were purchased as always - in excellent quality, service and then very competitively priced.

5 of 5 Outstanding May 1, 2020

These trainers are far to quick for my legs to keep up with. They're light, springy, with excellent grip rough and wet terrain.

1 of 5 Not for me February 12, 2019
Reviewer: Gordon Booth from Huddersfield, N/A United Kingdom
At coming up 87 I'd decided I needed a little more cushioning in my shoes.  My 73 year old partner wears Hoka Speedgoats and swears they're the most comfortable shoes she's ever worn.  So I thought I'd try Hokas too, especially at the discounted price of the Mafates.  Alas, they were most uncomfortable in the toe box area and sadly I had to return them for a refund.

5 of 5 Best long distance running shoe January 27, 2019

The mafate speed 2 are exceedingly good. Such a smooth ride with perfect support and balance. They do take a few weeks to break in but then the fun really begins. Worth every penny.

4 of 5 Early days but not bad April 26, 2017
Reviewer: Mads Olesen from Hørsholm, Hørsholm Denmark
Spring has come so I've only run three times in these shoes and all have been short runs. It's my first Mafate (but have run in Bondi's from the very first model, Stinsons (road and terrain), Challengers and even a Odyssey 1) and it's fine.

It's not as soft as the road models (and shouldn't be) but offers plenty of cushioning.

I did encounter something strange about the toebox. I've never had problems with Hoka toeboxes as so many have, but for my first run in these I really felt squished down there. So for my second run in them I put in a slightly smaller insole, but this time there was WAY too much room so switched back to the original. Next run, in the original configuration, there was too much room again so now I've switched the original insole with a thicker one and all is good. Just expect the shoe to break in a lot with the fit.

4 of 5 Very different to the Mafate Speed 1 March 27, 2017
Reviewer: David Baugh from Denbigh, Denbighshire United Kingdom
I have used and abused two previous pairs of Mafate Speeds and they are really superb trail Ultra shoes. I have now done a few long runs in these new Mafate Speeds 2 shoes and they are very different more akin to the Speed Goat but with more support and cushioning. The grip is much better than the Mafate Speed 1 but in my opinion they do not feel as cushioned and the rise id not the same. I'm still not 100% sure about them but on soft ground they are a good grippy shoe.
